Two photographs from my series EQUILIBRIUM are part of The 7th Chelsea International Photography Competition group exhibition at Agora Gallery in New York.
The selected works depict a passenger pigeon and an American bison—two animals with a strong connection to American history. The passenger pigeon was driven to extinction in the early twentieth century; the bison population is slowly recovering after having been critically endangered for a long time.
EQUILIBRIUM examines endangered and extinct species. I’m deeply grateful for the support of the Senckenberg Institute and Leica Camera Germany, and to WhiteWall for producing the prints and getting them safely to New York.
There is a pleasing twist to the story: another photograph of mine was shown at this very gallery in Manhattan in 2016. Coming back ten years later feels rather special.
