EQUILIBRIUM brought forty works from five series to Leica Gallery Wetzlar: ANIMA, SAMSA, IKARUS and the premieres of BASILISK and FORBIDDEN FRUITS. Together they examine animals and plants under pressure from human-made environmental change.
The exhibition was curated by Karin Rehn-Kaufmann and Inas Fayed. WhiteWall and ChromaLuxe produced the works, while Leica, the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research and the Botanical Garden of the University of Bonn made much of the underlying work possible.
Nearly five hundred registered guests braved an impressive thunderstorm for the opening. Seeing the rooms fill with conversations—and occasionally with people standing rather calmly in front of 2.3-metre carnivorous plants—was an unforgettable experience.
